Join FTG for Level 4 accreditation in Scalp Micropigmentation
Ensuring you are always one step ahead
Health Education England (HEE) has produced a standard of treatments across our industry and for the first time unregulated is becoming regulated.
Laws are changing and standards are being set in the industry to regulate the education and practice of SPMU, microblading and SMP. This is, in the opinion of Finishing Touches, an excellent initiative in order to ensure a high standard of practice in the industry. Though not mandatory, insurance companies and local authorities have the right to enforce this qualification at any time, and we want to be able to offer you the option to be ready for it.
Finishing Touches have worked in partnership to bring you a course written and administered by an outside body and has to be thoroughly checked, marked and accredited, giving you a full Level 4 qualification in SPMU, microblading and SMP.
By attending this course, you will be eligible to be registered and recognised as a technician who meets the education, clinical and practise standards adopted by the JCCP.
Your questions answered
What does it cover?
It covers elements including anatomy and physiology, health and safety etc for SPMU treatments on the scalp. It is not a ‘one course fits all’.
How long is the course?
The course is one day of lectures plus historical prior learning consideration and submitted case studies.
Is it equivalent to an NVQ?
This is not an NVQ Level 4 but a numbering system set up by the government. It is a Level 4 HEE – JCCP related
qualification – in no way does it relate to NVQ.
Is this or will it ever be law?
It will never be law as it will not be submitted to parliament.
So who is going to stop me
Local councils and insurance companies (they already are).
So I can practice without a level 4 then?
In principle yes. But you would have to find a council/insurance that has not implemented the new guidelines.
Non FTG Trained Tech’s
I was not trained in SMP, SPMU or microblading by Finishing Touches – can I still attend the
Level 4 course?
Yes – providing you take an assessment course (2 days) first. The course is a combination of online learning,
submitting case studies and visual assessment. This course has been developed for those technicians practicing
in the UK who have trained with another reputable UK training provider and need the Level 4 accreditation.
The level 4 course was written in conjunction with the Finishing Touches SMP course and is an extension –
therefore if you have trained elsewhere we need to ensure you are trained to the same standards.
- How it works:
Submit 10 case studies of each procedure.
- Once approved you will be given access to an online learning programme which must be completed in
full and submitted and verified.
- Participate in a 1 day assessment where we will watch your skills on a model. One treatment is
required in full (this can be done via Facetime or Skype).
- Attend your Level 4 module.
- Complete your Level 4 written assessment and submit for certification.
